World Bloggers’ Day was conceptualized during a meeting between Parkmall Marketing team and Cebu Bloggers’ Society, Inc. representatives in the middle of April 2010. Parkmall proposed to hold a blogging event for Cebu bloggers wherein CBSi is the major blogging organization partner.
Though Parkmall initiated the project, they asked for CBSi’s advice on how to call or name the event. From there, World Bloggers’ Day was born.
World Bloggers’ Day 2010 was held in Parkmall Cebu last May 2, 2010 with the participation of bloggers all over Cebu and in cooperation with blogging organizations from around the Philippines — Manila Bloggers Network headed by Azrael Coladilla, SOCKSARGEN Bloggers headed by Avel Mananzala, and Davao Bloggers headed by Ria Jose.
World Bloggers’ Day aims to recognize the roles of bloggers in the era of online media revolution.
In 2011, World Bloggers’ Day, being true to its name and purpose, will be celebrated worldwide, both online and offline. In its second year, the WBD International Team was organized. The team is composed of heads and founders of different blogging organizations from around the globe.
